A 60 minute Masterclass that explain how reading actually develops - and shows you exactly how to support it at home. No guesswork. No blame. No more 'just practice more'

Former Deputy Headteacher, SENDCo and Dyslexia Specialist with over 30 years supporting children with reading difficulties across state and independent schools — and training specialist teachers along the way. In 2006 I was asked to write a book on Early Literacy Skills, a second edition was published in 2019. I have spoken on several Podcasts and written articles on supporting children with neurodiverse learning profiles.
My approach is calm, positive, and focused on building confidence as well as skills. Every child I work with learns to believe in themselves again, and that’s where the real progress begins.
After seeing so many children lose confidence with reading, I wanted to create a simple, supportive way for parents to help at home — without the stress or tears

Reading ends in tears.
Your child guesses words instead of sounding them out.
They avoid books.
They say, “I’m not good at this.”
Teachers say, “They’re bright, but…”
You've tried everything and nothing sticks
Reading time becomes calmer.
You stop second-guessing yourself.
Your child feels more capable.
Progress starts to make sense.
Confidence is protected while skills are built.

“The impact on her attitude to learning was almost immediate.”
“Clear, targeted support made all the difference. Reading no longer feels tense in our house.”
Emma (daughter age 8)

“His reading ability has come on in leaps and bounds.”
“The biggest shift has been in his confidence. He enjoys learning again.”
Vicky (son age 6)

“My daughter’s confidence at school has grown enormously.”
"I feel so much more confident - knowing how to help with mistakes and how to make reading fun again."
Clare (son age 10)
These aren’t quick fixes.
They’re the result of understanding how reading works — and supporting it properly.

Reading is not just looking at words and trying harder.
It develops through key foundations:
• Phonological awareness — hearing and working with sounds
• Phonics — linking sounds to letters
• Fluency — reading accurately and smoothly
• Vocabulary — understanding word meaning
• Language comprehension — making sense of text
If one area is insecure, reading feels slow, effortful, and frustrating.
More pressure doesn’t solve that.
Understanding does.
This Is For You If:
• Your child is primary-aged
• Reading feels harder than it should
• You suspect dyslexia (diagnosed or not)
• You want to support properly, not just practise more
• You’re tired of guessing
This is not about turning you into a teacher.
It’s about giving you understanding so you can support effectively.

Why It Matters Now
When children feel “behind,” that belief settles quickly.
Confidence is easier to protect than rebuild.
The sooner you understand how reading develops, the sooner you can change the experience at home.
