I am a passionate learner - always wanting to further my own knowledge and share that knowledge to help others support the children we care about. I am a published author having written books on spelling and the development of early literacy skills. I have been invited to speak at a variety of seminars and on Primary Education and Special Educational Needs podcasts.
I hold a wealth of expertise through my experience, additional training and ongoing professional development, and my passion for inclusive education is matched by my practical, evidence-informed approach. I have delivered training and INSET on topics such as inclusive classroom practice, handwriting development, and support for learners with dyslexia and co-occurring difficulties.
Throughout my career, I have continued to learn and explore different ways of learning and how different neurodiverse conditions affect learners. I have taken on a wide range of leadership and specialist roles, including SENDCo for over 15 years, Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy Headteacher alongside working as a classroom and learning support teacher. As the lead teacher at a Primary School that was given Beacon status for being Dyslexia friendly I supported other schools and gave regular talks about how to support dyslexic children within the classroom and how to teach handwriting effectively. I worked with East Berkshire College for several years training specialist teachers to work with learners with specific learning difficulties on their OCR Level 5 courses and also ran shorter courses for Teachers and Teaching Assistants to give practical support in the classroom. I have also worked within a global schools group for 15 years, playing a key role in shaping and strengthening their SEND network. Throughout my career I have supported and worked with children and their parents to help them understand that being different is amazing!
As a parent of a neurodiverse child, the journey is filled with challenges — not only in ensuring they get the right support but also in helping the world accept and understand them. But Mrs. Bodle has never seen xxxx as simply a child needing support — she has seen him for who he truly is: his personality, his qualities, and his potential. She gets him in a way that few others have. Parent
Kate is a kind, fun and patient teacher. Her experience enabled her to identify learning gaps and pull together a programme to support where it is most needed. Her approach enabled our child to be supported whilst working towards greater independence. The progress was a delight to see. Parent
Kate's training was fun and informative. She engaged the audience of staff from across the school, empowering them with the knowledge and practical advice they needed to make a difference in the classroom without creating a lot of extra workload. We can already see the impact on the pupils. Headteacher
